Dermaroller

The skin is the largest organ in the  body weighing approximately 3.5kg .It performs the essential function of keeping the body contents inside and the outside world out! Many people are unhappy about the way their skin looks. The face is predominantly the area that worries people the most.

For example acne scarring and skin pigmentation can play havoc with our appearance. It is best to  come to a doctor properly qualified in aesthetic procedures for treatment of these conditions. Dr Harker will examine your skin carefully and discuss the various options available and discover which one is suitable for you. Each person has a different skin type and sensitivity, skin problem and medical history. Dermaroller may be the correct solution for you; or there may be other therapies that will suit your particular problem better. This will all be carefully looked into and you will be advised the best route for you.

Dermaroller is a process of micro needling which stimulates your skin into repairing itself, it increases blood flow and encourages collagen formation in a specific area. The process is a non-chemical one and uses the needling technique to boost your own natural skin rejuvenation. Signs of scarring are reduced as the skin regenerates from deep within surfacing smoother, firmer looking skin.

Being completely natural is a big advantage.and it is a safe approach to skin rejuvenation. The results are gradual, in that the collagen bundles are stimulated to reform and generate a new skin layer over the following 4 weeks but the results can be spectacular in improving skin quality. Some needling procedures are detrimental as they damage the targeted area, with Dermaroller the skin does not get damaged which means the skin is not triggered to go into a healing response it actually improves the skin texture.

How does a dermaroller work? The practice itself uses a micro-needle that penetrates the skin, using this tiny needle it punctures the skin around 750 times per square cm. Before this procedure goes ahead, the skin is numbed  with potent local anaesthetic and will not commence until after 30 minutes to ensure the skin is completely numb The numbing process is to ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. After the procedure the skin will naturally repair and heal, it will take time as new collagen is formed and the blood supply enhanced given a gradual appearance of rejuvenation.

The quick fix for most people with regards to the face and the self expectations people have is make up. Painting over the problem area is a constant short term fix but as we all know make up is only very temporary and just camouflage. With skin rejuvenation and specifically a gradual and natural treatment like Dermaroller it improves the overall skin quality and appearance of the face.

Dermaroller is not however just used for facial problems, it can tackle the nasty appearances of stretch marks also,  which responds very well to the micro needling technique Although it is a safe procedure you should always seek a qualified doctor to carry out the treatment to avoid infection.
